Local Churches and Youth Work

In 2003 a COVENANT was adopted between the Parish, Methodist and United Reformed churches in Leatherhead. These three churches hold a combined Carol Service on the Sunday evening before Christmas.

Through CHURCHES TOGETHER IN LEATHERHEAD (CTiL), Christ Church enjoys a good relationship with other local churches, including the Parish Church, Leatherhead Methodist Church (LMC), the Catholic Church of St Peter and St Mary, Pioneer Engage, and Bookham Baptist Church, with regular meetings and joint events in the town at Christmas and Easter.

YOUNG PEOPLE Christmas Festival Service and children are very welcome at our Children's Church, and take part in sharing their news with the church family at morning family worship, later moving to their own groups for activities and learning. A creche is available for the youngest children. There are regular Parade Services with members of uniformed organisations, and young people take part in a Gift Service at Christ Church shortly before Christmas (right). Leatherhead Trinity School and Woodlands School hold services in Christ Church and the Parish Church each term.

YOUTH WORKER Leatherhead Methodist Church and Christ Church jointly employ a Youth and Children's Worker, Joycey (Nic Joyce, contact details: Joycey.lmcyouth@gmail.com 07583 884812). The ARK Toddlers Group takes place in our hall on Friday mornings.

MESSY CHURCH occasionally takes place at LMC (21 November 2019: Bonfire Night; 23 January 2020: New Beginnings; 19 March: St Patrick's Day; 1 May: Next Steps; 23 July: BBQ Party) for families with children up to about age 9, meeting straight after school for fun, crafts and food.

LEATHERHEAD YOUTH PROJECT: The two churches also support the BFREE Youth Café, which offers internet facilities and activities and advice for young people.

LOCAL UNITED REFORMED CHURCHES: In addition to our close links with Cobham United Church and Bookham URC, Eastwick Road, we are part of the Wimbledon Area Coordination Team (ACT), which is in the Southern Synod of the URC. Other local UR churches include: Ewell URC, Tolworth URC, West Street URC, Dorking, and Gomshall URC.

Other churches nearby include Pioneer Engage, which meets at Church Halls, Church Road, Leatherhead at 4pm on Sunday afternoons; St Giles and St George's Parish Churches in Ashtead, and churches in Bookham, including St Nicolas, Bookham, and Bookham Baptist Church.
