Local Churches and Youth Work

In 2003 a COVENANT was adopted between the Parish, Methodist and United Reformed churches in Leatherhead. These three churches hold a combined Carol Service in the Parish Church on the Sunday evening before Christmas.

Through CHURCHES TOGETHER IN LEATHERHEAD (CTiL), Christ Church enjoys a good relationship with other local churches). Members of several other local churches, including the Catholic Church of St Peter and St Mary, Pioneer Engage, and Bookham Baptist Church, together ran an outreach event on the day before Palm Sunday 2016, and joined together on Good Friday 2016 for a Walk of Reflection through the town.

YOUNG PEOPLE Christmas Festival Service and children are very welcome at our Children's Church, and take part in sharing their news with the church family at morning family worship, later moving to their own groups for activities and learning (except in August). There is also a creche for the youngest children. There are regular Parade Services with members of uniformed organisations, and young people take part in a Gift Service at Christ Church shortly before Christmas (right). Leatherhead Trinity School and Woodlands School hold services in Christ Church and the Parish Church each term.

MESSY CHURCH takes place at LMC monthly on the third Thursday each month for families with children up to about age 9, meeting straight after school for fun, crafts and food.

LEATHERHEAD YOUTH PROJECT: Leatherhead Methodist Church and Christ Church (UR), jointly employ a Youth and Children's Worker, Joycey (Nic Joyce, contact details: Joycey.lmcyouth@gmail.com 07583 884812), and also support the BFREE Youth Café, offering internet facilities and activities and advice for young people.

LOCAL UNITED REFORMED CHURCHES: In addition to our close links with Cobham URC and Bookham URC, Eastwick Road (Secretary: Mrs Doris Mitchell, tel: 01372 456310), we are part of the Wimbledon Area Coordination Team (ACT), which is in the Southern Synod of the URC. Other local UR churches include: Epsom and Ewell, whose joint Minister, with Tolworth URC, is the Revd Mrs Heather Cadoux; and West Street URC, Dorking, and Gomshall URC: the Revd Peter Flint took up this joint ministry in June 2005.

Other churches nearby include Pioneer Engage, which meets in the Leatherhead Parish hall at 4pm on Sunday afternoons, St Giles and St George's in Ashtead and those in Bookham, including St Nicolas, Bookham, and Bookham Baptist Church.
